Brian has stated that Smiley was break for him. He loved it. At that time Brian, Dennis, Carl and even Mike smoked pot. Mike has stated in his book that he would stuff his pipe with pot. So yes they were high probably recording some of the album. Bruce split from the scene at that time due to it being wierd for him. He did come back for Wild Honey.
